What is Reiki?

Reiki is a spiritual healing practice created by Mikao Usui at Mt. Kurama, Japan in 1922. It is used for well-being and balances the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. Reiki is given with a light touch using hand placements over a fully clothed body. Reiki is used for self-care, treatment of others and for family, friends, clients, patients and animals. Commonly reported benefits are less stress, less anxiety, less pain and a better overall quality of life. Reiki is commonly used in hospitals across the country as an integrative approach to care and comfort of the patients. Reiki, however is not just for those that are sick it’s for those that aren’t sick to stay healthy.

You may be wondering what happens in a Reiki session?  You lay fully clothed on a treatment table or sitting in a chair. The trained Professional Reiki Practitioner will explain what the Reiki session will include and ask you a few questions on how you are feeling before and after the session. A very light touch and specific hand placements are used on or over such areas as your head, shoulders, and back.
